Monday 19 July 2021

This afternoon, the state coordinator has introduced a raft of restrictions in South Australia, including the cancellation of events that operate under a COVID management plan – meaning we can’t go ahead.

The entire BBF team have been working for the past five months to put as many contingencies in place to ensure that we could still bring you our beloved festival that we know and you love this July. But the Level 4 restrictions that come into place at midnight tonight leave us with no choice other than to postpone this weekend’s event.

We’re determined to make this event happen, honouring the entire reason we throw this event in the first place: to showcase the best beer, BBQ, art, musicians and local producers that this beautiful country of ours has to offer. So in the same vein as “the show must go on”, we have rescheduled our winter event to 24-26 September 2021.

By pushing our annual event back by a couple of months, we hope that our interstate friends that couldn’t attend due to state border closures will be able to make it across the border for our first ever Spring festival! Once we have more information about the rescheduled event, we’ll communicate this via email, social media, and our website. At that time, if you cannot make the new dates, we will open the refund process.

On a personal note, Kev and the entire BBF team want to extend their sincere appreciation for all of our brewers, chefs, winemakers, distillers, food producers, staff, contractors, the Adelaide Showground, volunteers and suppliers who have been working tirelessly over the past few months (and particularly this week) to make this event happen… The live event and hospitality industries across Australia have been hit like no other over the past 18 months, and this is yet another blow on top of many that will be hard for some to bounce back from.

We will be lobbying in earnest for our government (both state and federal) to provide immediate financial support for events, venues and their staff and contractors who have been forced to cancel, close or postpone with little warning and no safety net. We encourage you to show support to our vast list of vendors (check them out on our website) during this time by either purchasing their products online, ordering takeaway (or delivery!) from their venues, by buying their music and merch online or even just chucking them a follow.

We’ll be in touch with you all over the coming days and weeks with more information. Bear with us while we unpack it all. And until then – stay safe, stay warm, drink great beer, listen to great music and look after each other.

Thank you to everyone who bought tickets. We throw this festival for you, and we can’t wait to crack a few cold ones with you this September
